Praying Out Loud: Motives

Hey brothers and sisters. Do pray out loud every chance you get? When you are charitable do you tell everyone? What’s your Motive or intent? Time to weigh it against the BOOK. Doing Alms is giving something (such as money or food) freely to relieve the poor and distributing to the needy. What does the Bible say about how it is to properly be done?

Matthew 6:1-4 (KJV)

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

How about properly praying: Do you go out of your way to make a spectacle in public?

Matthew 6:5-6 (KJV)

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Just remember God sees all that we do. Good bad or indifferent so make sure your motives are good. By the way for the lost reading this. It has NOTHING TO DO with salvation we are not saved by works. We are saved by faith

Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
